2 injured in traffic crash

ISHPEMING — Two people were injured in a traffic accident in Ishpeming on Wednesday morning, the Ishpeming Police Department reported.

Police said that at 8:18 a.m., it was dispatched to a crash on U.S. 41 near McDonald’s. The results of an investigation showed a silver 2011 Chevrolet Impala, driven by a 65-year-old male, was eastbound on U.S. 41. The vehicle turned northbound onto North Road near McDonald’s in front of a 2001 Toyota Rav 4, driven by a 19-year-old female traveling westbound.

The male driver was treated at the scene and transported to UP Health System-Bell by EMS with minor injuries. The female driver was treated at the scene. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

The driver of the Impala was found to be at fault in the crash for failing to yield the right of way, police said.

IPD was assisted at the scene by the Michigan State Police, Ishpeming Fire Department and UPHS EMS.

Westbound traffic was temporarily rerouted until the highway could be cleared.
