Township race results outlined

MARQUETTE — Below is a full list of local results in contested township races from Tuesday’s general election. Race results have been put in alphabetical order by township.

Champion Township Trustee: Sonia D. LaPin (D) and Susan Little (D) won the two open seats in the race for Champion Township Trustee in Tuesday’s general election. LaPin received 100 votes and Little received 82 votes, defeating opponent Matthew Zumpf who garnered 73 votes during Tuesday’s election.

Chocolay Township Trustee: David A. Lynch (R), Kendra Symbal (D), Donald Rhein (R) and Judy Kay White (NPA) won the four open seats in the race for Chocolay Township Trustee in Tuesday’s general election. Lynch received 1,931 votes, Symbal received 1,863 votes, Rhein received 1,640 votes and White received 1,260 votes, defeating opponent Anthony Giorgianni (NPA) who garnered 1,157 votes during Tuesday’s election.

Forsyth Township Clerk: Michelle Borrett (R) won the race for Forsyth Township Clerk in Tuesday’s general election.

Borrett received 1,749 votes, defeating opponent Jane E. Nordeen (D) who garnered 1,424 votes during Tuesday’s election.

Forsyth Township Treasurer: Steven Kevern (R) won the race for Forsyth Township Treasurer in Tuesday’s general election.

Kevern received 1,867 votes, defeating opponent Chris Adams (D) who garnered 1,290 votes during Tuesday’s election.

Forsyth Township Trustee: Neil Armatti (D) and Leonard A. Bodenus II (D) won the two open seats in the race for Forsyth Township Trustee in Tuesday’s general election.

Armatti received 1,612 votes and Bodenus II received 1,470 votes defeating opponents Connie Heikkila (R), Dale Throenle (R) and Ryan Lipinski (NPA) who garnered 1,304 votes, 1,178 votes and 373 votes respectively during Tuesday’s election.

Humboldt Township Clerk: Sarah Etelamaki (R) won the race for Humboldt Township Clerk in Tuesday’s general election.

Etelamaki received 221 votes, defeating opponent Ashley Lancour who garnered 91 votes during Tuesday’s election.

Humboldt Township Supervisor: Thomas Prophet (R) won the race for Humboldt Township Supervisor in Tuesday’s general election.

Prophet received 213 votes, defeating opponent Sanford R. Pesola (D) who garnered 98 votes during Tuesday’s election.

Humboldt Township Trustee: Peter Koski (R) and Jeffrey Ogea (D) won the race for Humboldt Township Trustee in Tuesday’s general election.

Koski received 208 votes and Ogea received 157 votes, defeating opponent Craig Thompson who garnered 117 votes during Tuesday’s election.

Ishpeming Township Clerk: Aaron Yunker (D) won the race for Ishpeming Township Clerk in Tuesday’s general election.

Yunker received 491 votes, defeating opponent Shylo L. Hyry (NPA) who garnered 286 votes during Tuesday’s election.

Ishpeming Township Trustee: David A. Bosio (R) and Curt Sjoholm (D) won the race for Ishpeming Township Trustee in Tuesday’s general election.

Bosio received 626 votes and Sjoholm received 382 votes, defeating opponent Charles A. Johnson who garnered 329 votes during Tuesday’s election.

Michigamme Township Clerk: Neil H. Hanson (NPA) won the race for Michigamme Township Clerk in Tuesday’s general election.

Hanson received 137 votes, defeating opponent Elizabeth Howe-Koenig (D) who garnered 95 votes during Tuesday’s election.

Michigamme Township Supervisor: William Seppanen (D) won the race for Michigamme Township Supervisor in Tuesday’s general election.

Seppanen received 120 votes, defeating opponent Denise A. Lovelace (NPA) who garnered 47 votes during Tuesday’s election.

Michigamme Township Treasurer: Nicole Haskett (NPA) won the race for Michigamme Township Treasurer in Tuesday’s general election.

Haskett received 149 votes, defeating opponent Irene DeRoche (D) who garnered 84 votes during Tuesday’s election.

Michigamme Township Trustee: Julie M. Anderson-Leake (D) and Donald C. DeRoche (D) won the two open seats in the race for Michigamme Township Trustee in Tuesday’s general election.

Anderson-Leake received 138 votes and DeRoche received 119 votes, defeating opponent Ruth Starr (NPA) who garnered 91 votes during Tuesday’s election.

Negaunee Township Community Center Board: Dale R. Rogers (D), Steve Ayotte (D), Jason Makinen (D), Russell Williams (D), Stephen Olsen (R), Mike Rivord (NPA) and Christopher Lunseth (NPA) won the seven open seats in the race for Negaunee Township Community Center Board in Tuesday’s general election.

Rogers received 1,096 votes, Ayotte received 1,037 votes, Makinen received 999 votes, Williams received 990 votes, Olsen received 931 votes, Rivord received 656 votes and Lunseth received 570 votes, defeating opponent John W. Makinen (L) who garnered 481 votes in Tuesday’s general election.

Powell Township Trustee: Denise Hudson (R) and Karen December (NPA) won the two open seats in the race for Powell Township Trustee in Tuesday’s general election.

Hudson received 289 votes and December received 236 votes, defeating opponent Joseph E. Stanley (NPA) who garnered 205 votes during Tuesday’s election.

Republic Township Supervisor: James Brennan (NPA) won the race for Republic Township Supervisor in Tuesday’s general election.

Brennan received 339 votes, defeating opponent John C. Ulrich (D) who garnered 277 votes during Tuesday’s election.

Richmond Township Trustee: Ashley Smith (D) and James L. Korpi (D) won the two open seats in the race for Richmond Township Trustee in Tuesday’s general election.

Smith received 314 votes and Korpi received 257 votes, defeating opponent Emily Hodge (NPA) who garnered 114 votes during Tuesday’s election.

Tilden Township Supervisor: Fred Van Luven (D) won the race for Tilden Township Supervisor in Tuesday’s general election.

Van Luven received 416 votes, defeating opponent Lori K. Kulju (R) who garnered 225 votes during Tuesday’s election.

West Branch Township Trustee: Tim Overmyer (R) and Kris Shaw (D) won the two open seats in the race for West Branch Township Trustee in Tuesday’s general election.

Overmyer received 430 votes and Shaw received 412 votes, defeating opponent Nellie Latta (D) who garnered 397 votes during Tuesday’s election.

All election results are unofficial until they have been certified by the Marquette County Board of Canvassers, which is expected to meet at 10 a.m. today.
