MUNISING — “More Miles for Health,” the three-mile jaunt for walkers and runners, raised over $300 for the Munising Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. The event was sponsored Oct. 14 by the North Country Track Club. Sixty area residents participated, including nine members of the Willie Swajanen family who took the family plaque home for the fourth consecutive year. Family members participating were Swajanen, of Eben, daughters Muriel Moore of Menominee, Sandy Moulds of Munising, Millie Johnson of Christmas, and Phyllis Swajanen of AuTrain; and grandchildren David Elwing of Munising, Christie Moore of Marquette, and Amber and Brent Johnson, both of Christmas. The Munising Seventh Day Adventist Church won the team plaque. Participants were David, Sharon, May and Janna Buttrick of Shingletone; Sue, Mike and Natalie Castiglione of Munising; Jude and Anna Holloway of Wetmore; and Bea and Frank Stimac Jr. of Munising.

NEGAUNEE — All Girl Scout troops of Marquette County will attend the Juliette Low birthday party here at Memorial Gymnasium Saturday at 12:30 p.m. The event will mark the 100th birthday of the Founder of Girl Scouting in the United States. Guest speaker will be Mrs. Walter Gries of Negaunee, who has been active in Girl Scouting much of her life. Honor guests will be women who have been active in Scouting in the past. Arrangements for the party have been made by the senior planning board of the Marquette County Girl Scout Council. The Rev. A.M. Karjala, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, will give the invocation. The planning board said that troops attending the party should bring dishes for themselves and their guests
