Museum to close for the season

MARQUETTE — The Marquette Maritime Museum and Marquette Harbor Lighthouse are closing for the season on Saturday, according to a news release.

Its annual fundraiser, Ghosts of Lighthouse Point, is being postponed until April.

Its winter lecture series, Maritime History on Tap, will be held virtually via Zoom with the first program on Nov. 10 on the 45th anniversary of the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

“Please help protect our historical lighthouse, including the fragile ecosystem surrounding the lighthouse, during the winter months,” organizers said in the release. “Protect the lilac bushes that were planted in the 1870s by staying off the paths and not making new paths, do not climb over gates and chains and please stay off the catwalk and the fog horn building foundation for your own safety and to preserve the structures.”
