Free mediation events offered

MARQUETTE — Meditate Marquette is offering free special topic events on various contemplative practices. The first is scheduled for 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Oct. 17 via Zoom.

Scott Smith, a lucid path neigong instructor, will be presenting a session titled, “Exploring Seemingly Opposite Yet Complementary Forces.”

“This Zoom workshop will be a guided exploration of the concept of opposite yet complementary forces. It will focus on how these forces affect our bodies, minds, and world as well as what we can do to manipulate these forces to our advantage in our everyday lives,” organizers said in an announcement. “The idea behind this workshop is to get people thinking about how these forces affect and shape our lives. It is not meant to be the final word on the subject, but rather simply a place to start from.”

The workshop will include meditation, breathing, bodywork, and “a little philosophizing to explore the world of opposites as it relates to our body, mind, and world at large,” organizers said.

Jeremy Morelock will present on a Buddhist topic on Nov. 21 and Deb Smith will present on a Mindfulness topic on Dec. 19.
