December choral concert canceled

MARQUETTE — The Marquette Choral Society has decided to cancel its concert in December, according to an announcement from organizers.

“We are very sad, but feel this is necessary to protect the health of our choir and audience members,” organizers said in the announcement. With the U.P. moving from ‘low risk of infection’ to ‘medium risk’ and continuing to head towards ‘high risk’ we were unable to see a safe path forward rehearsing and performing.

“We look forward hopefully to improvements in time for the Winter 2021 season and will begin planning for rehearsals to start again in the new year. We are anxious to again sing beautiful music and to share it with the community.”

Organizers ask the community keep the Marquette Choral Society in your thoughts.

“We still have organizational expenses and will need to fund performances in our 50th anniversary season next year, so please consider a donation if it is possible for you,” organizers said in the announcement.

This is possible to do by:

≤ Electronic donation: Make a payment by texting 833-951-1329, text GIVE 50 or whatever amount you wish to contribute and send. A reply text will direct you to a link to complete required information to give via credit card or directly from your bank account. You can make a general donation, or give for a specific purpose within the Choral Society.

≤ Checks: make checks out to Marquette Choral Society, and send to P.O. Box 204, Marquette, MI 49855
