Two people injured in crash near Forestville Trailhead

MARQUETTE — Two people were injured in a single-vehicle accident that took place on Forestville Road near the Forestville Trailhead in Marquette Township shortly before 9 p.m. Thursday, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The sheriff’s office, which said it responded to the incident at 8:56 p.m., reported the incident involved a red 2001 Ford F-150 pickup truck that was driven by a 16-year-old Marquette resident.

The driver lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway, rolling the vehicle over into a wooded area.

The driver was wearing a seatbelt, but the vehicle’s passenger was not wearing one, the sheriff’s office said. Both airbags deployed as a result of the crash.

The driver and passenger were transported to UP Health System-Marquette for non-life-threatening injuries.

Assisting at the crash scene were Marquette Township Fire and Rescue, Michigan State Police and Marquette Detailing.

The accident remains under investigation.
