MARQUETTE — One of the Lake Superior & Ishpeming railway company’s new locomotives made its initial trip from Marquette yesterday. A mishap delayed it for a time in Negaunee, but when it reached the “Y” in the lower yards it left the rails. The “Y” is not long enough to permit the engine to turn and it was necessary to back it all the way to Marquette. The “Y” will be enlarged and it is expected that the locomotive, the largest ever brought to the Upper Peninsula, will be in the ore service between Ishpeming and Marquette before long. The locomotive weighs 27 tons more than the largest engine on the Northwestern system.
