PWPL welcomes Hooper

MARQUETTE — The Peter White Public Library’s series of events, Musical Interludes, sponsored by the Carroll Paul Memorial Trust Fund of PWPL, is going live.

Starting tonight, music lovers are invited to get to know local musicians in an informal interview/performance on the Library’s Front Street steps from 7-8 p.m.

The library’s guest this week will be singer/songwriter Steve Hooper of Under This Cold Sky, a tribute to both the land and culture of the U.P., combining traditional and modern folk musical styles along with lyric-intensive songwriting and storytelling.

Hooper’s first EP, “Of Iron & Men,” was released in January 2018 and explores the stories and folklore of Marquette County and surrounding areas. Hooper’s full-length album, “If You Seek a Pleasant Peninsula,” celebrating the U.P. and Great Lakes, was released July 2018 with a portion of sales benefiting the Superior Watershed Partnership. His most recent release, “Boreal,” came out December 2018.

Bring a chair of blanket to sit on to enjoy this weekly event. Attendees are requested to wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines.

A rain date has been set for Tuesday from 7-8 p.m.
