Person rescued from cave Monday

MARQUETTE — The Marquette City Fire Department rescued a subject stuck in a cave on Monday on Presque Isle near the observation deck.

The fire department reported that it responded to the area at 9:50 p.m. Monday to help a person stuck in a cave near the water. A rescuer was lowered down a rope to help the subject.

The person, who was uninjured, was put into a rescue harness and tethered to the rescuer, after which both were hoisted up.

No injuries were reported, and crews cleared the scene at 11:06 p.m. The Marquette Police Department assisted the fire department at the scene.
