MARQUETTE — The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle personal injury crash along M-35 at the Empire Mine Road in Richmond Township at 9:51 p.m. Thursday.

A 2005 Ford pickup truck driven by Abby Drummond, 19, of Marquette, was heading east on the Empire Mine Road when she failed to yield to a southbound vehicle, causing a crash.

The southbound vehicle, a 2001 Jeep, was driven by Douglas Dorie, 61, of Negaunee.

The Ford pickup was spun around before going into the northbound ditch. The Jeep came to a stop in the northbound lane of travel.

Dorie, the driver of the Jeep, sustained no injuries. Drummond, the driver of the pickup, was transported by UP Health System EMS to UP Health System-Marquette for minor injuries.

Drummond was cited for failure to yield.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Richmond Township Fire/EMS, UP Health System EMS and Anttila’s Towing.

The crash remains under investigation.
