MARQUETTE –A Bissell and Upper Peninsula Animval Welfare Shelter Empty the Shelter Event is planned Friday through Sunday.

The BISSELL Pet Foundation is sponsoring pet adoption fees at 160+ shelters across 32 states during “Empty the Shelters,” and event that’s an effort to find forever homes for homeless pets like Beans, the cat shown above.

The foundation is assisting shelters amidst COVID-19 with sponsored adoption fees by appointment-only and pre-approval.

The cost is $25 to adopt dogs and free to adopt cats, ages 6 months and up, and small animals.

According to a Facebook event posted by UPAWS: “UPAWS has many wonderful pets that are looking for love and a new home! If you are interested in possibly adopting, we are by appointments for all services. Check out the available pets on our website www.upaws.org and fill out an Interest Form: https://upaws.org/animal-interest-form/

“Then we will contact you to discuss your interest form and set up an appointment,” the post states.
