MARQUETTE — A woman from downstate Gross Ile was injured in a one-vehicle crash that took place at 8:27 p.m. Wednesday in Marquette Township, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office said.

The office said it was dispatched to the area of Grove Street and Marquette County Road 492 on a report of a minor personal-injury crash. the driver of a 2015 Chevy Cruz, a 21-year-old female from Marquette, was westbound on Grove Street when she ran a stop sign at the intersection of County Road 492.

The Chevy Cruz crossed over both lanes of traffic and crashed into the embankment on the other side of the road. The driver was not injured and later was arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated.

The backseat passenger, a 21-year-old female from Grosse Ile, was transported to Upper Peninsula Health System-Marquette for medical evaluation of non-life-threatening injuries. There was a front seat passenger who was injured.

The Michigan State Police as well as Marquette Township Fire and EMS assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
