MARQUETTE — A driver was injured in a rollover accident early Monday morning, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office said.

The sheriff’s office was dispatched to a single-vehicle rollover crash with unknown injuries at about 6:35 a.m. Monday near M-553 and the railroad overpass in Sands Township.

A red Dodge Grand Caravan driven by a 43-year-old Marquette woman was traveling north on M-553 approaching the overpass and crossed the southbound lanes, hitting the guardrail. The vehicle then left the roadway and rolled over. The vehicle came to rest on the off-road vehicle trail.

A first responder witnessed the crash and immediately rendered aid until EMS arrived. The driver was transported to UP Health System-Marquette for further treatment of minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation. Assisting at the scene were Sands Township Fire and EMS and Mr. Wrecker.
