MBLP spreads word about scam
MARQUETTE –Marquette Board of Light & Power would like to inform customers of potential Robo-Call scams and remind customers that it does not currently utilize any Auto-Calls or Robo-Calls.
Customers have reported calls being received stating that they have been billed incorrectly and that they should “press 1” to speak with a customer service representative to receive a credit on their bill, according to a MBLP press release.
Officials urge customers that if they have questions regarding the legitimacy of a phone call they receive in terms of their electric account from someone claiming to be a MBLP employee to hang-up and call the main office at 906-228-0311 and ask to speak directly with a customer service representative. Office hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
