Litter haul event to be held today

MARQUETTE — The Northern Michigan University Conservation Crew is hosting an Earth Day Litter Haul today and organizers are looking for help picking up litter and spreading the word via social media.

To participate, organizers suggested the following:

≤ Find and share the NMU Conservation Crew’s Facebook post about the Earth Day to spread awareness.

≤ Go outside and go for a walk. Take a trash bag and some gloves with you.

≤ Collect any trash you see while you’re on your walk.

≤ Share images of the trash you collected on social media and tag the NMU Conservation Crew if you wish.

“By sharing images of the trash you collected you’re bringing awareness to littering problems within your community, which will hopefully encourage people to take action by stopping littering, speaking up when they see someone else littering, and by collecting litter they see in the future,” organizers said in an announcement. “Just because we can’t gather in person this Earth Day, doesn’t mean we can’t still make immense positive impacts within our communities.”
