Crash injures two in Marquette

MARQUETTE — Two people were injured in an accident that took place Thursday afternoon in Marquette Township, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The sheriff’s office responded to the crash near the intersection of U.S. 41 West and Wright Street at about 3 p.m. Thursday. A 2013 Buick, driven by Susan Harris, 72, of Marquette, failed to yield the right of way leaving Wright Street to head west on U.S. 41 when she struck a westbound 2017 Nissan driven by Dawn Connor, 48, of Ishpeming.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage and had to be towed from the scene. Both drivers suffered minor injuries and were transported to UP Health System-Marquette for further evaluation.

Harris was cited for failure to yield.

Assisting at the scene were the Michigan State Police and Marquette Township Fire/EMS.
