Fatal car crash in Schoolcraft Co.

COOKS — A man was pronounced dead on the scene following a motor vehicle accident in Schoolcraft County Wednesday.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Gladstone Post were dispatched at 6:13 p.m. to a crash involving a single motor vehicle in Cooks on County Road 442 near 437, a press release from the MSP Gladstone Post states.

The vehicle driven by a 33-year-old Manistique resident was east bound on 442 when he lost control of the vehicle and exited the roadway to the right. The vehicle struck trees off the roadway and the driver was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on arrival.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing.

Troopers were assisted on the scene by the Sault Tribal Police, Inwood Township Fire Department, EMS, Manistique Public Safety and Burns Towing.
