Arrests made for meth possession
ISHPEMING — A traffic stop led to the arrest of a man from Marquette for possession of methamphetamine.
The Ishpeming Police Department reported that officers conducted a traffic stop just after midnight on Friday on Division Street near Hematite Street. An investigation into the stop led to the arrest of the 45-year-old man.
Charges also are pending on a 46-year-old female from Ishpeming who was a passenger in the vehicle. The female is facing possible charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of analogues.
A total of eight grams of methamphetamine was located as a result of the stop. The names of those involved will not be released at this time.
Possession of methamphetamine carries a possible prison sentence of up to 10 years, while possession of analogues carries a sentence of up to two years.
Since Jan. 1, the Ishpeming Police Department has completed 16 investigations involving the possession of methamphetamine.
