Two arrested for home invasion

GWINN–Two subjects were arrested in relation to a home invasion that occurred in Sands Township Saturday.

Deputies from the Marquette County Sheriffs Office were dispatched to Olsen Road in Sands Township for a suspicious vehicle parked near a residence, a press release from the sheriff’s office states.

A check of the vehicle’s owner revealed the vehicle was stolen, police said in a press release. Footprints were followed to a nearby residence where three subjects were located outside and one was located inside the residence.

Michael Latta, 33, was arrested for first-degree home invasion and driving a stolen vehicle.

Courtney Latta, 28, was arrested for first-degree home invasion and resisting and obstructing. Both subjects have been arraigned and are in custody at the Marquette County Jail, authorities said.

The vigilance of a neighbor calling in a suspicious vehicle resulted in the suspects arrest during the time of the alleged crime, the release states.

The sheriff’s office reminds residents to report suspicious situations, always lock their doors and to utilize technology in the monitoring of their property.

The case is still under investigation, police said.
