Operation Action U.P. set to meet

MARQUETTE — Operation Action U.P. will be holding its annual meeting Feb. 13.

The event is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. with registration and networking on the campus of Northern Michigan University at the Northern Center Ballrooms.

The OAUP annual meeting is open to anyone who has an interest in the program.

The four Upper Peninsula businesses that will receive the 2019 OAUP Awards of Excellence are Advanced Center for Orthopedics and Plastic Surgery, Bacco Construction, Hurley Marine, and Trenary Home Bakery.

The award recipients will provide an overview of their business, noting their remarkable successes.

Additionally, the UPEDA nonprofit award winner that will receive special recognition at the event is the Marquette Alger CTE Committee.

This year the OAUP annual meeting will feature a diverse slate of hot topics from three keynote speakers.

To start the day, attendees will hear from Brian Calley, president of Small Business Association of Michigan and former Lieutenant Governor of Michigan, who will present on the Michigan Entrepreneurship Scorecard Report.

In the afternoon, Gary Richardson, Chief Information Officer, Vector Tech Group will present on Virtual Currency.

To close out the day, Amber Pastoor, Project Manager on the Great Lakes Tunnel Project, Enbridge, will give an update on the Line 5 project.
