No injuries in single-vehicle crash

NEGAUNEE — No injuries were reported by two occupants involved in a single-vehicle crash in Negaunee Sunday.

At 11:38 a.m., the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash on U.S. 41 near the line between Negaunee city and township.

A 2003 GMC driven by an Ishpeming resident was heading east when he encountered slowing traffic due to another vehicle crash near North Oak Manufacturing also along U.S. 41, a press release from the sheriff’s office states.

The driver attempted to apply his brakes and his vehicle slid out of control heading toward the shoulder of the road. The vehicle rode up along the snowbank and proceeded to roll over onto its side. Both the driver and small child were uninjured. Both occupants were wearing safety belts that prevented injury.

Traffic was moved to one lane while the vehicle was up righted and removed from the scene. The driver was listed at fault in the crash. Traffic control was provided by sheriff’s deputies and assistance by the Negaunee Police Department.
