Tai Chi workshop offered Saturday
MARQUETTE — On Saturday morning, an introductory workshop to the mind-body practice of Tai Chi Chuan will be held at the Hope Connection Center, 927 W. Fair Ave. in Marquette.
Developed by Chinese monks in the eighth century, this is a gentle exercise the improves mental focus, increases balance and flexibility. It is now being used in major medical centers across Northern American for wellness and health. Special guest Fred Maynard, a retired rehabilitation physician will also be making a brief presentation on “Living with compromised chronic physical challenges.”
Instructors for the workshop are Jon and Diana Magnuson. There will be a light nutritious brunch served. The workshop will take place from 9:30 a.m. – noon and is sponsored by the Cedar Tree Institute, a nonprofit organization tha provides services and initiates projects in the areas of mental health, religion, and the environment.
