ISHPEMING — Practically all of the sub-contracts on the construction and most of the materials for the remodeled J.C. Penney Co. store here were handled or furnished by Marquette County firms, William McLaughlin, store manager, has disclosed. The general contractors for the project were Pajula & Maki, Ishpeming. The sub-contractors included: Wangberg Electric, Negaunee; Warner Plumbing and Heating Service, Negaunee; Rundman & Sons, Ishpeming, painting; Dollar Bay Tile Co., floors; Northern Tile and Terrazzo, Negaunee, washrooms and store front; Esser, Iron Mountain, glass and aluminum door frames, and Stuart’s Carpet Service, Ishpeming. “We are happy that these local men could do the construction work and furnish most of the materials for our new building,” McLaughlin said, adding, “It is the policy of our company to use local firms whenever possible.”
