Work on M-28, M-149 to start today

MUNISING — The Michigan Department of Transportation is announcing that three railroad crossings in Alger and Schoolcraft counties will be reconstructed starting today, with completion anticipated in early November. The crossings are at the following locations: M-28 near the Anna River in Munising, Alger County; M-28 between Munising and Shingleton in Alger County; M-149 north of US-2 near Thompson in Schoolcraft County.

Traffic at the two M-28 crossings will be maintained with temporary roadways, according to MDOT. The temporary road near the Anna River will have one alternating lane open via temporary traffic signal. The other M-28 crossing will be maintained as two through-lanes. The M-149 crossing will require a posted detour through Manistique.

A map of the project areas is available on Mi Drive.
