MARQUETTE — Five-time state champion Brad Tangen and 1988 national runner-up Sherman Tangen were among the winners at the 1989 Upper Peninsula Michigan Open Wristwrestling Championships held Sunday at Ody’s Lounge in the Westwood Lanes. Brad Tangen took home top honors in both the right-handed light heavyweight and the left-handed middleweight divisions. Sherman won both the right- and left-handed superheavyweight classes. According to World-National Amateur Wristwrestling Association promoter Jerry Halvorsen, the popularity of the sport will increase as more area competitions are being planned. The top three finishers in each class are eligible to compete in the 1989 Miller Beer-National Invitational Championships in Wisconsin Dells, Wis.

MUNISING — The Happy Hands 4-H Clothing Club of Grand Marais has been reorganized under the guidance of Mrs. Willard Handrich, Mrs. Monica Carollo, Mrs. C. Newberg and Mrs. H. Ottenhoff.
