Rock and Mineral Club meeting
ISHPEMING — The Ishpeming Rock and Mineral Club will meet at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Cliff Shaft Mine Museum, 501 W. Euclid St. in Ishpeming.
Doors will open at 1 p.m. to allow members and visitors time to bid on silent auction specimens and to view the club’s mineral collection. The program will start at 1:30 p.m.
Marquette County Mine Inspector, John “Yogi” Carlson, will tell about his role in keeping local mines safe and what he looks for in his inspections. He will give a brief history as to how the local inspector’s job has changed over the years.
In addition, he will give an update on the new Eagle Mine East project.
A door prize drawing, a 50/50 drawing and a business meeting will follow the program.
Everyone is welcome to attend and learn about the wonders of rocks and minerals. There is no admission charged.
