MARQUETTE — Lakeshore Boulevard from Fair Avenue to Hawley Street “will remain closed for public safety until further notice,” as it has “again experienced significant damage from erosion and accumulated debris,” according to the city of Marquette.

Erosion is now impacting the section of Lakeshore Boulevard from Fair Avenue to Pine Street, “creating unstable conditions along the edge of the road and for the remaining trees,” while Lakeshore Boulevard from Wright Street to Hawley Street is “again covered with heavy debris,” city officials said in an announcement.

A detour is currently available from Lakeshore Boulevard to Fair Avenue to Presque Isle Avenue to Hawley Street and back to Lakeshore Boulevard, according to the city. An announcement will be released when the closure is lifted.
