ISHPEMING–The Ishpeming City Council has authorized the transfer of a 10-acre tract of land on U.S. 41 to the state for the proposed half-million dollar National Guard armory. The land is located on the south side of U.S. 41 and adjacent to the Palms Book Addition. The parcel was donated by the Cleveland-Cliffs Iron Co. In authorizing the transfer, the group instructed City Manager Thomas R. McNabb and City Attorney Albert Hooper to “work out” several provisions in the deed–the main one, of course, would be a reverter clause.
