U.P. Rec Camp held at Bay Cliff
MARQUETTE — Nineteen campers descended on Bay Cliff Health Camp in Big Bay Tuesday for a week of fun and friends.
The U.P. Recreation Camp (formerly U.P. Sports Camp) serves adults with disabilities from Upper Peninsula communities. The focus of the week is simple: take part in enjoyable activities while learning new skills and making new friends.
Activities included tie-dying, swimming and making seed bombs. Volunteers from Pet Partners also came to give campers and staff an opportunity to socialize with therapy dogs and learn safety tips about petting dogs. Volunteers from local Native American tribes shared stories and performed drumming songs for campers to dance along to.
U.P. Recreation Camp, which runs through Saturday, is sponsored by Goodwill Industries, Reynolds Foundation, Frazier Fund, Community Foundation of Marquette County, Globe Printing and MARESA.
