CHATHAM — Drivers on M-94 in the Chatham area should expect lane closures and brief delays beginning next week as a major utility project gets underway, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.

Beginning Monday, traffic will be disrupted on M-94 between Onota and Munising streets in the village of Chatham for major sanitary sewer improvement work. One lane of alternating traffic will be open using a combination of temporary traffic signals and traffic regulators.

Traffic impacts are expected to last for about one month. Motorists are reminded to slow down and drive with caution in the work zone.

Under a permit from MDOT, the village is investing about $1.2 million to replace components of the aging sanitary sewer system.
