Free the Music Festival continues today

Stina Jay performs her set, which kicked off the Free the Music Festival at Lakenenland Friday evening. Event organizer Tommi Lakenen said the festival was started six years ago by her cousin who has a passion for music and wanted to give back to the community. "We're doing it for the community to get together and local bands to play out here and just have fun," Lakenen said. Free the Music Fest continues tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. with performances by Just the Two of Us, Derrell Syria, Sarah Schingeck, the Ogea Brothers, Trailer Hitch and Backroads 906. A 50/50 raffle will take place during the festival at a cost of $5 for 6 tickets or $1 per ticket. The festival is free to attend and sponsored by Give Em A Brake Safety, Sombrero Sound, Lakenen Crane, Ojibwa Casino, North Country Disposal & Septic, McDonald’s and Holiday Gas.
