Man injured as vehicle strikes pole
ISHPEMING — One person suffered minor injuries and was transported by ambulance after a single-vehicle crash took place in Ely Township Sunday, according to the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post.
The accident occurred on County Road 581 near Southwood Lane when a blue 2010 Subaru Forester was traveling northbound on County Road 581 when it lost control, striking a power pole and breaking it in half. The driver, a 40-year-old Ishpeming man, sustained minor injuries and was transported to UP Health System – Marquette for treatment. The vehicle’s passenger was uninjured in the crash. Seat belts were being worn at the time of the crash, police said. However, drugs are believed to be a contributing factor, according to a press release about the accident. The crash remains under investigation.
