MARQUETTE — One man was cited and one woman was transported to the hospital by ambulance after a two-vehicle personal injury crash Saturday near the Marquette County Fairgrounds, according to the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident occurred around 3:10 p.m. Saturday when a 2014 Buick attempted to turn left from M-553 into the fairgrounds and a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro failed to stop, striking the Buick from behind. The driver of the Buick, Kristin Parrish, 30, sustained minor head injuries and was transported to UP Health System-Marquette by Sands Township EMS.

The driver of the Camaro, David Pelkola, 65, was cited for violation of basic speed law, failure to stop in assured clear distance. Pelkola was uninjured in the accident.

Sands Township Fire and Rescue assisted Marquette County Sheriff’s Office deputies at the scene.
