At right, the 126th Army Band of the Michigan National Guard, the “Governor’s Own” as of 2013, performs at D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans Friday evening. The Belmont-based band is one of the nation’s premier military music ensembles. The group has played throughout the Upper Peninsula this week and will end its U.P. tour in Munising at Binsfeld Bayshore Park on Monday evening at 6:30. During the free event, the 126th will perform patriotic concert band selections and feature several small group ensembles that include “Minutemen Brass,” “No Brass,” and “Live Fire.” Above, a trumpeter in the 126th Army Band of the Michigan National Guard plays a Felonious Munk tune.
