Fundraiser held for Marquette mural

Tiina Harris, manager of the Marquette Arts and Culture Center, encourages event attendees to donate money during the Paint the Wall Mural Fundraiser for the Power of Words Project outside of Madgoodies Studio at the corner of Third and Ohio streets in Marquette Thursday evening. POWP is a campaign in partnership with the MACC and Be Well LLC that plans to create a mural of one word that defines the city’s vision for the future. The Marquette mural would be completed on the exterior of the former MacDonald’s Music store located on the corner of Third and Ohio streets. POWP is asking for $20,000 in donations by June 15 to fund murals to be completed in Manistique in July, Gladstone in August and Marquette in September.
