ISHPEMING — The NICE school board plans to formally reinstate all programs lost in budget cutting at its regular meeting tonight. A truth-in-taxation hearing also is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the Westwood High School media center. The public hearing is required before the board can raise the school’s millage levy by the three mills voters approved May 2. Jim DeLongchamp, NICE business manager, said items to be reinstated include all extracurriculars; a part-time assistant principal at the high school; $20,000 in capital outlay purchases such as audio-visual equipment, microscopes, desks and chairs; $10,000 for textbooks; and more. The board also plans to reopen the Westwood swimming pool at a cost of $42,000.

NEGAUNEE — Honoring 47 years of Masonic affiliation, tribute will be paid by members of the Negaunee Masonic Lodge to William H. Richards at a testimonial dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday in the Masonic lodge rooms. In conjunction with the dinner, a class of candidates will be initiated in a degree ceremony which will begin in the afternoon and will be completed following the dinner program. The group has been designated as the William H. Richards Class.
