1 killed in ORV accident

WELLS TOWNSHIP — One man passed away after an ORV accident in Wells Township Saturday night, according to the Michigan State Police.

Troopers responded to the scene around 11:43 p.m. Saturday and found that the driver of the ORV had crashed while westbound along County Road 495 near County Road SN. Responders performed life-saving measures, but the driver, an 80-year-old man, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead a the scene, police said.

Speed and alcohol are believed to be a factor in the crash, according to the Michigan State Police. The investigation remains ongoing and no names are being released at this time, police said.

Michigan State Police Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Forsyth Township Police, Forsyth Township EMS/Fire and Wells Township EMS/Fire.
