NEGAUNEE — The inaugural Goof-Fest scholarship benefit celebration is planned Saturday.

The events will raise funds to establish The Alan “Goofus” Ammesmaki Scholarship for Negaunee High School.

Ammesmaki, known for his one-man band and his spirited support of Negaunee High School, Northern Michigan University and Michigan State University, died in March 2018.

Saturday’s activities kick off with a “pre-game” lunch available at the Negaunee Eagles Club from 2-6 p.m.

A sidewalk kazoo parade is set for 3 p.m. along Iron Street.

Then the party moves to Smarty’s Saloon where Pierre Ogea Karaoke is planned from 4-7 p.m.

The fun heads next to Barr’s Bar, where the Flat Broke Blues Band will play from 7-10 p.m.

During the celebration, prizes and bucket auctions are planned.

For those who cannot attend, contributions to the Ammesmaki scholarship fund can be sent to: Negaunee High School, 500 Arch St. In the memo line, put Goofus.
