Businesses help goverment folks

MARQUETTE — Two local businesses are offering a free coffee and muffin to federal employees who are impacted by the record-breaking government shutdown every day until the matter is resolved.

BabyCakes Muffin Co., of Marquette, and Huron Mountain Bakery, of Marquette and Ishpeming, posted the following on their Facebook pages:

“We would like to show our support for our neighbors in The Coast Guard, (Transportation Security Administration) agents, (Department of Homeland Security) employees and others working through the government shutdown without a paycheck.

From now until things are up and running again, stop in … and show your government ID for a cup of coffee and muffin on us every day until things are back up and running.

We are in this together.”
