Marquette woman wins $100K

MARQUETTE — A Marquette woman is looking forward to an earlier retirement after winning $100,000 playing Powerball.

Gail Zorza, 62, matched four white balls and the Powerball — 10-11-47-55-58 PB: 26 — Saturday to win $50,000. Thanks to the Powerplay, her prize was multiplied by two for a $100,000 prize.

She bought her winning ticket at Cal’s Party Store, located at 123 Genesee St. in Marquette.

“My husband and I have a set of numbers we play for each drawing,” Zorza said in a news release. “My husband saw the numbers after the drawing and then went to check them at the store. When he called to tell me the ticket was a winner I had a hard time believing him.

“I’m going to get my husband a new truck and then save the rest for my retirement. I have been slowly cutting my hours back, and now I will be able to stop working even sooner!”

Zorza visited lottery headquarters Tuesday to claim her big prize.

Starting at $3.23/week.
