MARQUETTE — Gander Outdoors is continuing a tradition of honoring present and past members of the armed forces by installing a massive American flag at its Marquette retail store Friday.

The 40-by-80-foot flag that covers 3,200 square feet, flies on a 130-foot pole and was installed as part of a project that Camping World Holdings began in February 2014 to show ongoing appreciation of America’s first responders, veterans and active military members. Gander Outdoors is owned by Camping World Holdings and is dedicated to serving the hunting, camping, fishing, shooting and active sports markets with outdoor products and services.

The official flag raising ceremony will commence at noon Friday. Refreshments and snacks will be served during the ceremony, which will be attended by community officials and local volunteers. All local public service and safety members, military, veterans and community members were also welcome to attend this event honoring the U.S. Armed Forces.
