UPAWS hopes for another grant

2017 winners, representing UPAWS, Kim and Ruger Randolph

NEGAUNEE — The Petco Foundation, in partnership with Petco, will be granting holiday wishes in the form of more than $750,000 in grant awards to animal welfare organizations across the country.

The annual Holiday Wishes campaign provides funding to animal welfare organizations to save more lives during the holiday season and year-round. In 2017, the Upper Peninsula Animal Shelter was the recipient of a $50,000 grant and $10,000 People’s Choice Award through the Holiday Wishes Campaign.

People who have adopted a pet from UPAWS are invited to submit a story of how their adopted pet changed their life to help give UPAWS the opportunity to receive a $100,000 grand prize grant. Finalist award grants will also be given ranging from $5,000 to $50,000.

Submissions must include photos and/or video to better illustrate the story. Adopters are encouraged to visit the Petco Foundation’s Holiday Wishes website more information, to see stories from previous winners, and to enter their submission.

The deadline to submit stories is Oct. 1 at noon CST but only the first 10,000 stories are guaranteed to be reviewed. Winners will be announced live on Petco Foundation’s Facebook page in mid November.
