In the spirit of buying locally, giving locally and community service, Marquette County Youth Advisory Council members purchased toys at Shopko in Marquette which they donated to The Mining Journal Cheer Club. Funds used were from the group’s endowed youth funds from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation that they distribute earned interest from each year. The YAC (Youth Advisory Councils) are made up of high school age students who are committed to changing their communities through philanthropy. YACs primarily focus on three fundamental areas: Fund development, youth empowerment and grantmaking.
