MARQUETTE — Local audiences have been stimulated by some of the finest names on the nation’s lecture circuit during the past few years — courtesy the Economic Club of Marquette County.

The Economic Club may not be one of the most recognizable groups in town, but it has been responsible for bringing to Marquette some insightful speakers who put local and national issues in perspective. The group centers its 12th season tonight with its monthly meeting highlighted by guest speaker Ray Brady, a CBS News correspondent.

MARQUETTE — With the low bid of $34,000, LaBrecque and Samppala, L’Anse construction firm, this week was awarded the contract to build a three-level chalet at Cliff’s Ridge, Marquette’s new ski area off County Road 553 near the Carp River.
