Evening lighthouse tour offered

MARQUETTE — The Marquette Maritime Museum is ending Maritime Month with an evening lighthouse tour featuring Museum volunteer Greg Sandell on Thursday at 7:45 p.m.

Tickets are free for Museum members and $10 for non-members. Call 906-226-2006 to reserve tickets.


Tysen Benz to be honored at event

MARQUETTE — In honor of the late Tysen Jade Benz, the community is invited to join family and friends in honoring Tysen at Black Rocks at Presque Isle Park at 4 p.m. today.

The event will involve the release of 12 Chinese lanterns followed by a jump off the rocks for what would have been his 12th birthday.


SHF to celebrate anniversary

MARQUETTE — In celebration of its five-year anniversary, the Superior Health Foundation will host a celebration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at its office at 121 N. Front St. in Marquette.

Guests will be treated to cake and lemonade at the event. In addition, the first 24 guests will have an opportunity to spin and win gifts on the prize wheel. Guests can also register for a door prize.

“We’ve accomplished a great deal in a short period of time in awarding more than $1.2 million in grant funding,” said Jim LaJoie, executive director of the Superior Health Foundation, in a press release. “This is our way of saying thanks to our friends, board directors, donors and grant recipients.”

Guests are asked to use street-side parking or the parking ramp.
