Beacon House to hold open house

MARQUETTE — To celebrate the nationally recognized Hospitality House Network Week, Beacon House, the Upper Peninsula’s only hospital hospitality program, will be opening its doors to all community members for tours, pizzas and root beer floats.

Beacon House will feature Copper Crust Pizza on Wednesday at the Third Street location, and the Beacon House Hospitality Rooms at UP Health System-Marquette will feature Jilbert Dairy ice cream root beer floats on Thursday. Both tours and treats will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on their respective days.

Also on display in the lobbies of the facilities during the tour will be architectural renderings of Beacon House’s planned building near where the new hospital is being built and information will be available to the public about how they can support that effort.

It’s an open invitation to also witness the naming of three rooms, recently sponsored by celebrities Justin Florek and NFL football player Mark Campbell and Ray and Cheryl Hosking.

Small plaques will be showcased with the new rooms and future plans will include photos and memorabilia from the sports stars and their families.
