DNR officials work to live-capture black bear

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP — Officials from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources are working with residents around the 100 block of Midway Drive to live-capture what is suspected to be an injured black bear, according to a post made on Negaunee Township’s official Facebook page.

Officials from the township said the bear has been frequenting houses in the Midway Drive area, and one of the residents there noticed what appeared to be an injured paw.

DNR officials are asking residents to remove their bird feeders and other sources of food until the animal is trapped.
