NEGAUNEE — Marquette County’s new airport is rapidly nearing completion in Negaunee Township, and when finished, it will rank with the finest municipal fields in the region.
Geographically speaking, the Negaunee Township site is more ideal than Sawyer for a municipal airport since it is not more than a 30 minutes’ drive from Marquette, Ishpeming, or Negaunee. It is located well outside the 15-mile restricted air radius of Sawyer Field.
