ISHPEMING -- This spooky season, one Ishpeming couple has decided to bring the "terror" while also fundraising for their neighbors.
An all-ages haunted house deemed the "Terror on Main" will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Oct. 23-25 and Oct. 29-31 at 209 Main St. in Ishpeming.
Admission is one non-perishable food item per person, which will be delivered to the food bank in Ishpeming.
Seasonal and spooky snacks and beverages will be available for purchase.
"Halloween has been my favorite holiday all my life, and we have the perfect place to have a walkthrough," said event organizer Cassandra Kleczka. "We want to bring the joy and the Halloween spirit and offer something fun for kids and adults to do right here in Ishpeming. A quick, fun Halloween thing you can add to your list of cool things to do this October."
The haunted house will also feature an online costume contest for patrons and actors.
"There will be a link, there will also be a paper people can sign for consent to post their photos on the internet, but we will also take a photo to post in the window outside so people can vote by using a drop box we will also have," Kleczka said. "The contest will go all through Halloween, when votes will be calculated and posted roughly after the last day we have the walkthrough."
Kleczka said that those who love the Halloween season or have kids should definitely consider checking out the haunted house.
"There should rarely ever be a wait to get in," she said. "It's something fun to do with your kids. This will offer a good Halloween feel, and even busy families will be able to squeeze it in. We want to help people get into the Halloween spirit while also reminding people that we are a community that cares and we want to help out however we can."
Kleczka said that the organizers are also looking for people who are interested in volunteering and want to be a part of the spooky fun. For more information, send email to gutterball3394@gmail.com or text 906-236-5254.
The organizers ask that no attendees wear full-face Halloween masks to the event, and that all children are accompanied by an adult.
